We went to the new Original Joes in Unicity mall for lunch. It opened 3 weeks ago. The restaurant does not allow minors so taking your children or teen out for a meal will not be happening here. The décor is stylish in shades of brown with subdued lighting. It is one big room with an area for a bar with stools. There are many booths and fewer tables. Several big screen tvs line the walls. There are 6 red wines on offer and six whites, a few cocktails and an okay selection of beers. You only have 3 dessert choices.
I had butter chicken which came as a generous portion accompanied by naan bread. It was nicely spiced and there was a good amount of chicken. My hubbie had their original burger which came with a choice of 2 sides. He opted for Caesar salad and fries. The fries were homemade and the beef patty was a good size. He said the salad dressing was quite bland.
Service was good and friendly. We did find they were a bit too eager to clear our plates. Still it is better than being ignored. The servers all wore a uniform of a tight, short black sleeveless mini, no stockings and black pumps with a low heel. I did feel a bit badly for the young women standing by the door as it was freezing outside and they were not dressed for the cold that came in with each guest. It would be nice if management would let their staff dress a bit more conservatively. I am the mother of a young woman and would not be pleased to have her be required to wear that uniform.
The menu is the same for lunch and dinner. Our meal with 2 glasses of house white came to $48.00 plus tip.
Our server told us they do not accept reservations. There is an enclosed patio outside which I am sure will get lots of use when the weather warms up enough to make outdoor seating comfortable.
